THE TING TINGS New Album ‘Super Critical’ In-Stores NOW Via Finca/[PIAS]

THE TING TINGS are back with their third full-length album, SUPER CRITICAL, out in-stores today (1/13) via Finca/[PIAS]. The LP–co-produced by Andy Taylor of Duran Duran–was released in their native U.K. this past October.

The globetrotting pop duo–Katie White and Jules De Martino–has announced a string of select exclusive North American tour dates in support of the new album. The run will kick off this Monday (1/19) in Toronto and hits New York’s Bowery Ballroom January 20 before heading to California for shows in San Francisco and Sacramento, and wrapping up at Los Angeles’ famed Troubadour January 26. Several of the dates are already sold out (see below). The group will then return stateside March 17-22 to officially perform as part of the SXSW music festival in Austin. More U.S. dates will be announced shortly. For all touring and ticket info, visit www.thetingtings.com/tour.html.

Fans were first given a glimpse into SUPER CRITICAL with the release of the album’s first single “Wrong Club,” impacting radio now. Billboard’s Jason Lipshutz wrote “Wrong Club” is “…a single that shimmies forward with the disco thump of Daft Punk’s mega-hit ‘Get Lucky,’” (6/3/14) while PerezHilton.com raved, “The British duo have gone indie and released their best record in years! Channeling some Chromeo goodness, The Ting Tings have gone super disco and it is glorious!” (9/4/14) Check out the song’s music video hereLife+Times is exclusively premiering a new remix of “Wrong Club” by U.S. house pioneer Tom Stephan today; check it out here.

THE TING TINGS–known for their massive hits“That’s Not My Name”and “Shut Up and Let Me Go,” among others–approached this new album differently. Feeling uninspired, the two sought out an adventure in late 2012 which took them to Ibiza. As it turned out, unleashing their party spirit was exactly the impetus and momentum needed to craft something special and true to the starting spirit of their musical adventures. The result is SUPER CRITICAL, a hook-stuffed, introspective, modern disco record.

While in Ibiza, someone introduced Katie and Jules to Duran Duran’s stalwart guitarist Andy Taylor who offered to help sift through some old demos and became co-producer of this project. Songs began emerging. “It felt like making a record while partying in your bedroom, which is pretty much exactly how we made the first album,” Jules explains. “In 9 months we became like family. It was a massive education for us. His old analogue approach, the studio set-ups he used in the 80s with Duran were perfect for the sound we were looking for. That approach isn’t around anymore. Studio people don’t know how to achieve it.”

SUPER CRITICAL is about going away to come back home. “Where we are right now feels exactly where we should be,” says Katie. “I feel like dressing up and going out again,” says Jules. “And that feels perfect.”
