“It leads with a perfect clap and synth filled build up before DJ Kool asks for audience participation as he yells, “Put your girl on your shoulders.” And if we have learned anything from “Let Me Clear My Throat” is that when DJ Kool tells us to do something we do it, so expect to see a lot of girls on shoulders in the very near future when this song is played out.” – Run The Trap
Hip-hop has undeniably permeated the dance music scene, fueling the bombastic cross-breed trap genre that’s often anchored by party-starting rap lyrics. It was only a matter of time until hip-hop icons DJ Kool and Mr. Collipark sunk their teeth into the electronic realm, partnering up with Dim Mak fixture Dirty Audio to create their inaugural collaboration “Shoulders.”
The monstrous record is flooded with electrifying synths and hi-hats, furnished by boisterous bass kicks and DJ Kool’s bellowing vocals compelling listeners to lift their female friends onto their shoulders.
When he’s not busy slamming out headlining sets across the country, Dirty Audio spends his time in the studio producing electro house and trap heaters. “Shoulders” subsequently follows Dirty Audio’s Dirty Dutch Music release “Chiefin” which gained support from big-guns Kaskade, Martin Garrix, Afrojack and David Guetta. His collaboration with Deorro and I-Ez last year “Boombox” effortlessly drove through Beatport’s Electro House charts to earn the #1 spot.
Credited as one of hip-hop’s originators in the 1970’s, DJ Kool’s musical impact is both legendary and timeless. “Let Me Clear My Throat” went Top 50 in seven countries, including #30 on U.S. Billboard’s Hot 100.
Mr. Collipark, Grammy-nominated rhyme-sayer, hip-hop producer and ColliPark Music label head who discovered multi-platinum recording artist Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em, made massive waves with his ubiquitous 2005 collaboration with Ying Yang Twins and Bubba Sparxxx “Ms. New Booty.” He’s now sailing into the booty-trap world with his recent endeavor alongside Chuckie “Hell! Fuck! Yeah!”
