Out on Beatport February 17 | Out Everywhere March 3 | Rhythm & Chaos Records
Bass enthusiast and producer/DJ SPL (Sam Pool) is releasing two filthy tracks, “Back Again” and “Bristol Transmission”. The double bass-heavy release will be available on Beatport on February 17, and out everywhere on March 3 via newly-minted dance music label Rhythm & Chaos Records.
The new release embodies the old versus new, showcasing both a new musical direction for SPL as well as a revisitation to Sam’s sonic roots. The first of the two tracks, “Back Again,” engages you with SPL‘s grimy side, delivering an echoing introduction leading to a gritty bass-soaked breakdown for a surefire dancefloor stormer. The following banger, “Bristol Transmission”, is a nod to SPL‘s origins of classic DnB. Here Sam lays out a haunting introduction that is quickly overshadowed by heavy reese-style mids and bass.
SPL has been teasing his new tracks on his Soundcloud, most recently releasing “The Vision” and “Confusion”. “The Vision” premiered on YourEDM, and “Confusion” premiered on THUMP via dubstep and bass influencing label Smog Records.
SPL has a thorough music background from his depth musical education that ranges from music theory, engineering and piano to drums. He has released both D&B and bass music on respected labels Rottun Records, Firepower, Evol Intent, and SMOG. He has also been remixed by notable artists Bro Safari, UZ, Big Gigantic, and The Panacea. SPL‘s previous “Balearic Bass” EP gained upmost respect in the UK from massive D&B acts including Skream, Benga, and the esteemed bass music brand UKF. Preview the forthcoming EP HERE.
