Join Guy Gerber For First Show of 2015 Marquee Residency March 20
A Cosmic Concurrence of His World
The ethereal Guy Gerber returns to Marquee for the second year of his residency on March 20th. Building upon the entrancing themes that wowed attendees last year – at both his Marquee residencies and his wildly popular Rumors residency in Ibiza – the inaugural 2015 show aims to combine the previous installments into one: an all-encompassing, cosmic concurrence of the world of Guy Gerber.
A melting pot of mystic Asian temples, journeys through the cosmos, trips down Alice’s rabbit hole, and a collision course urbanity of New York will all play a part in the atmosphere of the night, with Gerber’s orchestration intertwining them in his uniquely bohemian way. As with every Guy Gerber experience, Marquee will be completely transformed into Guy’s vision, using the designers behind his Rumors Ibiza residency.
Musically, very few acts from the underground electronic music scene have achieved the level of notoriety and artistry as Guy Gerber. Beguiling and bewitching, his career is a lesson in contradictions. He spent five years working on the 11 11 album project with Diddy, one of music’s biggest moguls, then insisted they give it away for free. He delivered a break-up album, Fabric 64, in lieu of a mix for one of the world’s biggest club compilation imprints, Fabric. Furthermore, last year, his clandestine and free Rumors beach party was a reaction to Ibiza’s overblown mega clubs.
To create this residency, Gerber is collaborating with Marquee on their weekly Friday night dance party which has featured some of the world’s best underground artists every week since the landmark club re-opened in January 2013. Curated by residents Sleepy & Boo, Fridays are all about cutting edge DJs, playing before a rapt audience of music-lovers, presented in Marquee’s unparalleled audio and visual environment. The club’s pristine Funktion One sound system, floor-to-ceiling LED walls, custom-designed lights, and dramatic open interior space offers the perfect tableau for Gerber to present his unique musical and artistic vision.
