Get your dancing shoes ready because Woogie Weekend just announced its roster of four after-hours crews holding it down at Do LaB’s newest camp-out festival this July in Southern California. Spanning House and Techno to Disco and Tribal-Funk, these legendary California crews are bringing the heat.
Hailing from both Los Angeles and San Francisco, the Pocket is an event production/DJ crew home to artists like Pumpkin, Jesse Wright, and Sammy Bliss. Additionally, they produce, manage, and collaborate on events and festivals – most notably, The Woogie Stage at Lightning in a Bottle, and now – Woogie Weekend. Repping Pocket at Woogie will be Jesse Wright, Sammy Bliss, J.Cush and Cody Lee.
The festival will also host Jeremy Sole’s newest collective, Feral. A KCRW selector, and co-founder and resident Afro Funke’ DJ, Sole leads a crew of DJs journeying on a return to the wild with tribal vibes that merge Afro-Latin house, Global Bass, African Disco, and Brazilian Boogie. The jaw-dropping roster will include Jose Marquez, Wiseacre, Sabo, and Subsuelo (a duo of Canyon Cody & DJ Gozar).
In addition, San Diego-based collective, Music is 4 Lovers (or Lovelife) will deliver a selection of deep and soulful house music off the beaten path. Founded by residents Jimbo James and Dadon in 2011, Lovelife has helped put San Diego on the map for its treasure trove of talent producing delicious grooves. Holding it down for Lovelife will be Halo, Dadon, Saand, and Amanda Panda.
Lastly, San Francisco’s As You Like It (AYLI) crew combine the beloved weirdness of SF with the global realms of progressive underground House and Techno. Their late night parties are unforgettable, intimate experiences that have brought out global names like Tale of Us, Simian Mobile disco, Maya Jane Coles, and J. Phlip. For Woogie Weekend they’ll bring with them Bells & Whistles, Rich Korach, Mossmoss, and Mike Gushansky.
