SKRILLEX ANNOUNCES FULL FLEX EXPRESS LIVESTREAM + PARTNERSHIP WITH PRIMARY

Skrillex‘s Full Flex Express Tour teamed up with Live Nation and Yahoo to live-stream their July 11th concert live from TorontoOntario.  This is one of 365 concerts to stream over a 12-month period on the Live Nation Channel on Yahoo Screen. Fans tuned in on July 11th at 4pm local Toronto time (EDT), click here to watch the live-stream. Fans also had the freedom to stream the concert wherever they are through Yahoo Screen on iOSAndroid, mobile Web, desktop, and Smart TV platforms including Apple TVRoku, and Xbox 360.

On July 8th the Full Flex Express train tour started in Ottawa and Skrillex announced a partnership with Miami-based art collective Primary to provide a unique art experience. Primary’s contribution will be a collection of visual art components that encourage audience participation and interaction. Since Primary’s introduction, the topic of discussion has always been the romance between art and music, blurring the lines between the two. “What peaks our interest the most is the audience,” Primary founder Books Bischof explains. “What we experience are immeasurable moments steeped in magic, exploding out of a foundation that is tribal in nature.” Primary’s goal in these 8 cities is to observe, encourage, and document (in various mediums) those unique high and low moments where vision meets sound.

Primary’s current experiment for Full Flex is rooted in the art of mark-making (cave drawings, graffiti, tree carvings). Inspired by Pawel Althamer‘s exhibition “The Neighbors” at the New Museum in New York, Primary and OWSLA invite festival-goers to participate by leaving their own marks and messages on a collection of temporary walls as well as a towering abstract tree that bares the fruit for one to express themselves freely. These messages will then be documented and released online. Primary will tour to each city with a four sided art structure that will partner Miami-based creatives BooksIIII Bischof (@booksiiii), Cristina Gonzalez (@jojoto) and Typoe Gran(@Typoe) with local Canadian based artists from each city along the tour route.

Artist Ryan the Wheelbarrow (@ryanwheelbarrow) will be touring with Full Flex with his “Live Fashion Vandalism” project. Wheelbarrow sets up a live silk screen station that is part performance and part audience participation. In each city, festival goers will be able to purchase 1 of 35 limited edition blank shirts from OWSLA’s merchandise booth that the Wheelbarrow will then hand print with a unique, city-specific design. Once sold out, Wheelbarrow will print on any article of clothing you bring him.

In addition to the live art experience, Reed Van Brunschot (@reedvanbee), a conceptual artist from Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam and the School of Visual Arts in New York, will be assembling a collection of large scale inflatable sculptures that encompass the movement and motion identified with sounds of the Full Flex Express. Towering over the viewers, Van Brunschot’s inflatables will bump and grind their way throughout the tour as symbols of the Full Flex Express’s great energy, positive vibes, and family mentality.
