Bassrush Presents: Safe in Sound

Six thousand bass-heads gathered Saturday for Brassrush Presents: Safe In Sound, at the National Orange Events Center in San Bernardino.

The Safe in Sound tour, brought by SoCal production company Synergy Global Entertainment (SGE), had just come from a string of shows across the U.S. and Canada, hitting all the major cities such as Toronto, Chicago, Philadelphia, and Houston. Insomniac was the big partner of the night, providing state-of-the-art lighting and sound. Alongside the massive EDM festival producer were tour partners Rockstar and PETA2, and promoting at the show was Datsik’s sponsor, Coldcock Whiskey.

The show was a bass-lover’s paradise. The warehouse-style event was stacked with headliners Datsik and Zomboy, alongside trap-killers Bro Safari, Lookas, and Nightmare. Old school ravers and kandi-kids combined, danced the night away in shuffle circles after taking a break in the plethora of cuddle puddles outside the main stage building. Although Insomniac was not the main producer of the festival, Insomniac’s loyal fans made the show, bringing out the true raver vibes.

Aside from superstar Datsik’s brain melting performance, trap-king Lookas stole the show. The Floridian producer closed the night out with a bang. He played a hybrid set with epic dubstep buildups followed by bangin’ hardstyle/trap drops. He smoothly mixed rap tunes such as “California” and “Trap Queen” with hard drops that any bass-head would drool over.

The show wasn’t your average warehouse-style rave, Insomniac brought along it’s many valued amenities such as a free water refill station, lost and found operations and ADA accessible platforms. Interactive promotions were also in plenty, provided by the tour’s sponsors, Rockstar and PETA2 – the youth-centered division of animal rights organization, PETA.

I spoke with Chris Merow, a PETA2 ambassador for Safe in Sound.

“The outdoor festivals are the best for us, especially because we can talk to young people about animal rights, and by the end of the night we see everyone wearing our gear… it’s pretty awesome. What’s pretty cool is at every festival we encourage young kids to make a pledge to practice animal responsibility. They can text RAD to 78322 and pledge to be vegan, in return, they get great tips on how to be vegan with healthy recipes and fun nutritional tips,” said Merow.

Whether you were chillin’, groovin’, bangin’, or twerkin’ Bassrush Presents: Safe in Sound was an epic night of beat lovin’ vibes to satisfy any need for rave.

Next up for the Safe in Sound tour Bro Safari, Datsik, Dirtyphonics, and Zomboy take over The Joint @ The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas Thursday, October 1, 2015. For information regarding tickets and upcoming dates check out their website at http://www.safeinsoundfest.com.
