To say that Skrillex & Friends, Pier of Fear lived up to its expectations is an understatement. RPM Presents knows how to curate and throw an event. This was my first time at Pier 94 and even though attendance was at an extremely high volume there was more than enough room on the dance floor. Each artist brought something new to the table, the staff and security was courteous and I’ve never received a drink more quickly before. One of the extra add ons to the night was that Fight Clvb got added last minute to open up bringing us those moombahton feels. Vindata laid out an array of vibes to the table and transitions were perfectly executed. Jahlil Beats followed up with a different approach to his set seeing how he is a producer and not a DJ. His homies as hype men were brought along and it was a showcase of the beats he has currently been making and those in the past, anytime he cut the volume the entire crowd knew every word which was a beautiful sight to see as we were all in complete unison.
We were blessed with a short live performance from female rapper Leikeli47, with great stage presence the best comparison would have to be the NY version of Missy Elliot. Not to my surprise the highlight of the night had to be marshmello. Standing behind the decks in all white with a blood splattered giant marshmello head and effects to disguise his voice his set was a breathe of fresh air. Dropping a plethora of his originals, remixes and songs I haven’t heard before there was constant movement from start to finish. Skrillex hopped on the 1′ and 2’s right after for a high energy and mesmerizing performance with lasers beaming, lights shining and smiles all around. Helping out Skrillex was a live performance by Kai and some members from the A$AP Mob took the stage as well. Unfortunately I only was only able to catch the very beginning of Dj Sliink’s set and from what I’ve heard I definitely missed out. Overall the night was a success and Halloween was celebrated to the fullest extent, until next time ..
