There seems to be a lot of music production schools popping up here and there all over the country. Many of them churning out successful producers who are now touring all over the world. There’s one production school in LA that wants to change the way production is learned.
Beat Lab Academy, based in Eagle Rock California, uses a platform like no other production school to teach its students how to produce. Their collaborative teaching method is a new one to the scene. The teacher, Yeuda Ben-Atar, has a very impressive resume, working with artists like Rick Rubin, Ed Sheeran, DJ Numark, Peaches, Eric Melvin (NOFX), Dave Pensado, Guy Gerber, and Paul Dateh. After working with other production schools, Yeuda decided to start his own production school which focuses on a more hands on, interactive, collaborative effort. This is much different than the traditional production school where you sit and listen to a lecture and then try and recreate the information learned on your own.
