Music fans will be excited to hear that Ookay has just put out a new song titled ‘Thief’. First impression after listening through the tune is this is not what the average fan of the trap star would anticipate. The song starts with a plucked bassline along with vocal chops that progress into vocals from the producer himself. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard Ookay sing if anyone recalls his collaboration with Getter on ‘Told You’ from his ‘Planet Neutral’ LP. The tune moves onto high pitched vocals building to the most exquisite saxophone we’ve heard in a while accompanied by a crisp and warm bassline. Similar to the styles of Griz and Big Gigantic this song nails it right on the head. Just like the loop itself this song is definitely one to replay all day and night. Genres go out the window as we cannot put in a single category besides calling it good music. Its very simple, this track is just insanely good.
This is a new sound from the young talent and we speak for many others when we say we are 100% on board. Following the release of ‘Boot’ featuring the Ragga Twins, his remix for Duke Dumont, and the infamous remix for Major Lazer & DJ Snake’s hit song ‘Lean On’. Comparing those tracks to ‘Thief’ its a complete left turn but if that’s the direction Ookay is headed then follow him we shall. Anxious to hear what’s next to come out of his studio.
