Following the success of ‘Deadroses’ and ‘Help’, artist Blackbear has continued on his journey to stardom as he drops new ‘Drink Bleach EP’. Bringing back that honest and relatable sound that the creative offers this is yet again another masterpiece that he can add to his discography. If you’re unfamiliar with Blackbear which is a rarity these days, I suggest you go ahead and listen to the rest of the artist’s music after because it is extremely addictive.
Kicking off the extended play, we are greeted with an uplifting tune in ‘Something Real’. Sampling the likes of ‘It’s Alright Now’ by Bombay Bicycle Club, bear’s voice leads us into an assortment of minimal drums and a groovy bassline. The chorus signifies how love can be lost regardless of how much you care about someone. This track sets the tone for the rest of playlist. Teaming up with future bass producer Rad Cat, the pair collaborated on ‘Girls Like U’ and ‘Obvious’ featuring Mike Posner. Job well done I must say, in my opinion these are the two stand out tracks with such catchy choruses and energetic instrumentals to follow. ‘Suckerz’ is just another color to the mural the artist has painted for us. This track sits in your mind easily like a distant memory. Instantly transporting you to the skies of Los Angeles, the intimate atmosphere and tone this song gives you is vintage Blackbear. Just like on the album ‘Help’ the talent expanded his sound and showed off some new tricks. ‘Shake Ya Ass’ featuring P-Lo gave us a quick change of pace and energy. Dragging us out of our troubled emotional minds as this track is intended to, it is nearly impossible to resist getting up and dancing. Such a bouncy tune this can easily slip into your party playlists. Great way to switching things up in terms of the overall EP. This is a step forward for the young artist, be excited because this is purely the beginning of what will be a great career.
The EP will soon be available on music providers like iTunes and Spotify. For now, hold your horses and enjoy the music directly from Soundcloud:
