Jayceeoh, From his past ties with hip hop to his endeavors in electronic music chances are you’ve heard the guys work. He just finished rocking out the Heineken tent for the first weekend of Coachella accompanied by Ookay, Doctor P, Crnkn, Kayzo, Protohype, Green Lantern, UFO! and Crizzly. Luckily i got to get on the line with him to get an idea of how he managed to get to where he was at & see what projects he had lined up for the coming months with his music.
So from the start, This guy is business savvy for damn sure! Having a separate playing field to work with in the hip hop world he had to grow his market in electronic music and seems to have made some solid moves to accomplish just that. In fact he had told me about the VH1 show he was on that was sponsored by Smirnoff dubbed ” Master Of The Mix ” where he competed with other disc jockeys to lock in the final spot as winner, Well, He won. Along with winning the title of official Smirnoff dj he was also given a quarter million to get his career in the right direction. Can you imagine? This guy did not take the opportunity in vein either from getting booked by A list celebrities like Kylie & Kendal Jenner for high end parties to starting his own label.
Getting to the label i wanted to see what inspired the start of Super 7, As you’d guess it was pretty dope. Starting out as a mixtape series that eventually gained traction and a large following Jayceeoh came to the conclusion that he didn’t like letting the major labels have the ball in their court, If he wanted to release a record he wanted to be able to do so without dealing with the politics. It also didn’t hurt that he could now assist fellow artists and grow his platform further, Following up with tours like the TURN ME UP SOME tour currently in action. He had just finished up a leg of the tour out in Australia when he found out that not one, not two but three of his tracks had broke the one million mile marker! Being on the phone with him for that was a cool experience, Dude was stoked af!
So where’s the music heading to? More trap, Playing with other genres? Well, When it gets to this part of the interview i have to stay cryptic guys ( Sorry ) but lets just say you’ll be more than interested when the news officially gets leaked. What i can say is you can definitely expect more lyrical content in his records, a slew of collaborations including one with _______ & Zeds Dead, And more that will be announced in the coming months but it’s going to be big.
Check out his latest release with Styles & Complete, Their remix for Kevin Gates ” 2 Phones “ along with his original with BARE, Jumanji:
