Legendary DJ/Producer duo Boombox Cartel has returned with a highly anticipated pack of new tunes. Their Cartel EP comes after the release of two blazing hot singles “Jefe” and “Alamo”, which are the featured singles from this 5 track record. Earlier this year the duo gave fans a bit of jolt when they blacked out of social media for about 10 days and lead us to believe that the had thrown in the towel. This brief radio silence turned out to be a very minimal rebrand that has had Boombox Cartel fans hungry for more uniquely heavy bass from this dynamic duo.
Cartel starts with “Phoenix” which is a shorty but a goodie only lasting a quick 2 miuntes 49 seconds. The song overall is one long build into a beautifully crafted melodic release that keeps listeners engaged from start to finish. The tune is the perfect way to break the ice and get things started. From there the EP continues to pack punch after punch as each song gets better and better. Track 2, is “Jefe” which was the first 2017 release by the duo. Jefe is a very mysterious tune with some extremely innovative sound design. “Alamo”, which if you haven’t heard it yet, is an absolutely massive tune. The track features the smooth vocals of Shoffy which is the perfect compliment to the heaviness packed into the unique drop. The fourth track “Dem Fraid”, features the Reggaeton flow of Taranchyla stacking heat on heat in a very spacious bass heavy drop. This tune stands out as a hit all on it’s own, yet holds it’s position in the story of the EP. Track 5 is yet another legendary collab between Boombox Cartel & Quix titled “Widdit”. This tune gives this EP one final hoorah of head banging bass that is going to leave each and every listener begging for an encore.
All in all, this EP is absolutely monumental. Boombox Cartel is quickly taking over the bass scene becoming a staple within DJs setlist. Make sure you take a listen to Cartel EP below and grab your copy. It’s worth every penny.
