On November 17th Apple Music will release Major Lazer‘s “Give Me Future” documentary which captures the events that lead up to and during the historic concert in Havana, Cuba. Cuba is a country which for the better part of the 21st century has been cut off from the internet. However, with the help of “digital pirates” who distribute digital content, stored in hard drives, by hand they have been able to keep up with some of the worlds pop culture.
The music from Major Lazer has resonated especially well with Cuba’s youth. After 18 months of planning, Major Lazer, best known for their record setting world hit “Lean On”, performed in front of over 400,000 Cubans on March 6th, 2016. It was the first performance from a major US based artist since diplomatic ties were restored with Cuba. The documentary will be released along side an album featuring music from the film and a few unreleased tracks. The trailer for the documentary is featured below.
