I already report on politics and music and would like to do investigative journalism someday, but I'd still rather sing, produce, and perform live onstage.

WATCH: SNOE Releases Music Video for ‘New Generation’

SNOE, a bedroom hip-hop artist from France, has just released a music video for his new single ‘New Generation.’ But who really is SNOE? According to his general manager, he’s a young rapper who tries to create a universe you don’t see all the time in hip-hop. He released his first project when he was fourteen years old, and much of his inspiration and motivation comes from spending time living in New York City. Stylistically, his music is part of a growing niche in France where many of the rappers are increasingly influenced by the conventions of hip-hop/trap artists from more »

Rezz Releases Her Highly Anticipated Debut Album

Over the past few weeks, Rezz has been building up hype for her album in different ways. We heard much of the album released as singles, as well as the announcement of a tour. News of the album came unexpectedly only a month before its release. It was titled Mass Manipulation and is relatively short for an LP at eight tracks. The first four songs on it followed a one-per-week release pattern during the month of July on each Friday. Now, the hype built has reached its peak and the album is finally here in full. One lingering fear about more »

Adventure Club Announces American East Coast Tour Dates

Adventure Club has announced a short tour stopping along some of the major cities on the east coast of the United States. The duo released a remix of ‘Undercover’ by Kehlani a couple weeks back. Their take on the song received acclaim from fans as it returned in style to their signature melodic dubstep sound. In recent years and especially on their debut album Red // Blue, Adventure Club has experimented with their sound more. However, some might call the latest remix a return to their roots, which could mean exciting material for fans during this tour. The tour begins in more »

Latest Album From Camo & Krooked Inspires Innovation In Drum & Bass

As an avid fan of drum & bass and a personal fan of Camo & Krooked since 2012, it has been quite interesting to see the evolution of their sound since then. In full honesty (no pun towards said single intended), my appreciation for them had always been based upon melodic liquid bangers like ‘Watch It Burn’ and ‘Nothing Is Older Than Yesterday.’ However, Zeitgeist first hinted at a changing direction in the duo’s style, and Mosaik marks the complete advancement to something fresh in the realm of drum & bass. The biggest change in Camo & Krooked’s progression has been more »

Feed Me Releases His Long Awaited Existential Crisis EP

Feed Me has released his first full-length EP on mau5trap since Feed Me’s Escape from Electric Mountain. His last few EPs were released on Sotto Voce Records, but his newest was completed while on tour with deadmau5, hence the logical release on his label. The new EP is titled Feed Me’s Existential Crisis, and it may not be as long as his last one but makes up for that in content. The individual tracks from the release express experimentation while staying true to Feed Me’s signature sound. The EP gets off to a very strong start with “Existential Crisis,” which more »

Free Download: Spirit of Us – Dance Music

Since 2016, good progressive house has become increasingly hard to find.  The genre slipped more quietly out of the mainstream than others.  Big room house was confronted by a huge downfall while 2010-2012 era electro house and dubstep also took a clear backseat in recent years.  But progressive house didn’t seem to disappear for any reason other than that artists wanting to take their music in other directions.  Regardless, it’s still possible to find good progressive house music once in a while.  Sprit of Us shows that even the style of progressive house that Eric Prydz and deadmau5 are known for more »

Sunday Service Remixes Adventure Club’s “Firestorm”

“Firestorm” was one of the major singles from Adventure Club’s debut album Red // Blue last year, and remains one of the most successful. It hinted at a different direction for them by demonstrating less of their signature melodic dubstep and showing their diversity by incorporating more chill and mellow trap sounds. Sunday Service remixed it in a way that takes the original to all new territory. The Sunday Service remix offers a louder, more powerful future bass drop that feels more suitable for a song titled “Firestorm.” The lyrics, which were arguably the strongest part of the original song, flow well more »

The new singles they’ve been consistently putting out since the second half of 2016 show their ability to remain diverse in the world of house music. Scandroid Drops New Star Wars Themed Single

Scandroid has begun to gain more attention this year, especially with the release of his remixed album “Dreams of Neo-Tokyo.”  However, he released a new single the other day which has already become his number one song on iTunes: “The Force Theme.”  The song includes melodies familiar to any Star Wars fan, focusing primarily on the “Binary Sunset” theme but also incorporating the even more recognizable main title sequence melody.  Combining John Williams’ powerful orchestral music with the electronic, almost robotic feel of synthwave is a somewhat unexpected move.  However, the track brings the two different vibes together well, and with all the droids more »

In the past few years and especially with the release of his debut album Void, RL Grime has become one of the biggest names in trap music.  However, more recently he’s been exploring a bit past the boundaries of trap and into future bass, which has now become one of the most widely recognizable genres in EDM, to the point where much of pop music is now taking influence from it.  His latest work under the genre is a new single called “Reims” which has certainly satiated his fanbase’s desire for something new.
