Has Calvin Harris Released The Best Pop Album of 2017?

The most talked about album of 2017 so far has just dropped and it was definitely worth the hype. The fifth and probably most different album from Calvin Harris includes an exciting feature list, funk influence, and nearly 40 mins of memorable tunes. Below I will talk about my favourites from the album, not in any particular order. “Slide” Featuring Frank Ocean & Migos The first single released from the album -and definitely a strong one- is very memorable, fun and energetic. Featuring quite different sides of both Frank Ocean and Migos whilst also giving us the first glimpse of what more »

Next To Blue Drops A Memorable Future Bass Banger

‘Into You’ is the latest single released on Night Owl Collective by Next To Blue. If you aren’t familiar with Next To Blue or Night Owl Collective then hopefully after this you’re sold. The track starts with a filtered melody and vinyl scratch sounds. Slowly more and more elements are added, such as birds chirping and a rhythmic hi-hat pattern. Other little pieces are introduced that perfectly mesh with the main melody before the drop. This quickly progresses with fast claps in the build up to the drop. When it drops, you’re thrown into heavily panned, fast paced and delightful future bass bliss that more »

Trance Legend Robert Miles Has Passed Away

Update: A statement was released just earlier on Roberto’s radio show, Openlab saying ‘Robert passed away peacefully last night after a courageous battle with stage 4 metastatic cancer over the last 9 months’. Today is a very sad day for Electronic music and more specifically the trance community. Robert Concina, better known as Robert Miles has passed away. The details on his death are very limited as this time, all we know is he has died from a disease he has been battling, he was 47 years old. Robert Miles released his first single in 1995 called “Children”, this song would more »

Enschway & LUUDE Drop Infectious Remix of RL Grime’s Reims

RL Grime’s latest single ‘Reims’ has only been out three days and there are already remixes starting to pop up. Usually I am hesitant to jump on quick remixes. But Enschway and LUUDE are definitely two of Australia’s best producers, and when together they become an unstoppable duo. The track begins with the ambiance and progressive intro of the original, where it builds a quickly into a wonky, unusual and infectious trap drop. The tune leads you back into the ambiance, and it builds again into a choppy and arguably better version of the original tracks’ drop. This release is more »

Skrillex & Habstrakt Made The Best Bass House Song of 2017!

Over the years Skrillex has been one of the dominating and defining members of the Electronic music scene. ‘Chicken Soup’ is definitely no different from any of the quality songs he’s put out. Of course we cannot forget the work from Habstrakt on this collaboration, their styles both complement each other perfectly on this. The song starts with an intense variation of vocal chops and percussion. With a great rhythm supporting the overall tune, the build up leads to a wild display of their styles meshing. The most refreshing drop i’ve heard in bass house for this year, the sound more »

Point Point Deliver Once Again With New Single

‘Hands’ starts with a reverberated vocal chop that repeats several times until you’re dropped into a atmospheric scene taking you back to the 80’s. A perfect lead into Denai Moore’s beautiful vocals that compliment the sound design. A piano comes in that will subtly lead you into the chorus including a graceful melody curated by creative vocal work. The production could not have been any smoother as this tune serves perfect for replay food. Point Point continues their 2017 campaign as the group remains a hot commodity. Listen to it here:

Spotify For Artists Just Got A Huge Upgrade

Today is a big step in the movement forward for Spotify. If you weren’t already aware in the past, Spotify required 250 followers to get an artist verified. This made it very difficult for artists to start using the platform to it’s fullest extent as you couldn’t access your profile without being verified. The new update from Spotify allows any artists to submit their profiles for review to get verified. Click here (https://artists.spotify.com) for more info
