Joey BADA$$ and Oddisee: No Alternative Facts.

I listen to a lot of podcasts, in particular American comedy podcasts. A popular sentiment in light of the current political climate is that questionable times call for exceptional art. An expensive price to pay. Less than one week into the Trump presidential era, it seems that although we may be facing a turbulent time, the exceptional art is already coming dense and swift. Leading the pack is Joey BADA$$ with “Land of the Free” and Oddisee with “Like Really”. Both politically charged, they provide a somber, informative and most importantly (but not at all surprising) banging point of view. more »

XTALS – PORPHYRY [PRIME]

Today we’re sharing a fat ass trap tune from our TrapStyle Prime SoundCloud from young gun XTALS. When we heard how original “PORPHYRY” was we had to grab it to slang to the masses. The super tweaked out trap song begins with interesting nature sounds, detuned vocals and a distorted horn rising. With a buildup of energy and reverbed claps the song drops into a thumping trap beat. The 808s are saturated but clean, the vocal chops are precise and provide an interesting arrangement. There are so many dips and pops to keep the track moving and attention grabbing it’s more »

Balistex & Yeurotoxin – Skaarl [PRIME]

If anyone knows me, they know that I live for dubstep. Something about a simple kick/snare combo and crazy bass speaks to my soul so I’m stoked on the track we snagged from Balistex and Yeurotoxin for TrapStyle Prime. The track in question “Skaarl” is a gremlin of a dubstep tune. With a pull of inspiration from the ever popular League of Legends game, the song begins with a melodic intro and samples from the game characters. The playful samples bring us up to the drop after a short buildup and we are met with a curious collection of interesting more »

Beyond Wonderland: The Endless Sea Is A Go

One of my favorite musical events was Beyond Wonderland 2011 (mostly due to the fact that it was Porter Robinson’s first show on the West Coast and Showtek still played Hardstyle back then) and I will definitely be copping a ticket to this year’s festivities. Beyond Wonderland 2017 will be taking place over two days on March 24th & 25th at the forever-nostalgic NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, California. Bringing a fresh face to the event, Insomniac is dropping an underwater theme on the two days of musical madness and calling it Beyond Wonderland: The Endless Sea. Two Day more »

We snagged a track up for free download on our TrapStyle Prime SoundCloud from Tommy Walker and Jevi entitled “What’s Wrong” to give these talented musicians some extra clout. The tune has an extremely interesting intro applying the use of warped bell sounds and a robotic voice speaking through the reverb. A solid beat is laid down with a nice hip hop feel as the track picks up energy. With a quick build more »

High Zombie is known to make a variety of tunes but we’re focusing on his heavy trap release “Sanctuary”. The track starts foreboding but with a mellow vibe as some tamberines shake over ghostly wails. The melody comes in on the beat and we get a snappy mix of percussion with reverbed bell hits. As you vibe with the song the hats twist and turn around the beat, your head bobs more »
