Dubstep has been making a huge rise in popularity since a minor decline a few years ago and due mostly in part to the growing success of fresh and up and coming producers like STR!X. STR!X has attended multiple production schools to hone his skills and with tunes like “Affliction” it shows. This new Riddim banger is raw as fuck and hits like a drunken step dad. If not, let’s introduce you to his music with his latest dubstep anthem “Bermuda”. If anyone knows me, they know that I live for dubstep. Something about a simple kick/snare combo and crazy bass speaks to my soul so I’m stoked on the track we snagged from Balistex and Yeurotoxin for TrapStyle Prime. The track in question “Skaarl” is a gremlin of a dubstep tune. Mantis has been a name that is synonymous with the heavy bass movement since their beginning. The duo has pushed their brand of dirty-south-bass-metal in to the ears of fans across the world and their newest EP is set to wreak havoc off of Downlink’s Uplink Audio label. If you haven’t heard of Datsik, you are either on the wrong website or have been under some sort of musical rock for almost a decade. The legendary OG Datsik is bringing a new tour to 2017 with the promise of big beats and bigger sound. One of the biggest leaps made in the bass music world this year came from a Subway-sandwich-loving 19 year old. Ray Volpe is the killer you need to watch out for because this kid has got the sauce. The two lovely ladies of Duelle have just put out a remix ep for their trap tune “Start Again” that exemplifies their sound with the added tastes and twists of some fellow music makers. Nothing beats fresh tunes and a promising artist when you love music. The third release on TrapStyle Records, entitled “They’re Overthrown”, is a far out and funky dubstep track from young gun Hairitage. The up and coming, genreless producer has had releases on Ultra Records, Cr2 Records and others so we had to snag “They’re Overthrown”. The track begins with an old school film projector sample and a vocal from what seems like a 1950’s infomercial. Luckily for you, I was sent a tune from this upcoming bass prodigy named Nitti Gritti coming out of Miami, Florida. Nitti Gritti is everything you want out of a musician and then some. I’m down for all kinds of music, but I’m so down for SoDown’s newest single with Jubee. “Never Ending Story” is the most recent, pristine work of audio art from Ehren River Wright aka SoDown. The Colorado bass musician has been rising through the scene with this unique brand of far out and pure music. With a strong focus on using organic instruments in his tracks, SoDown creates insanely funky tunes.
