Deadenders Take You on a Journey with ‘Aether’

Meet Deadenders, a new LA bass duo who sound anything but what their name suggests. This group may only have been visible for a couple months, but their first two releases would make you think they’ve been lurking in the industry for much longer. Pulling in 17k soundcloud streams on these tracks, these “two guys having a good time” have hit the ground running in quite an impressive way. Creative high energy sound design, clean and crisp mixes, and an attention to flow really set Deadenders apart from the early days of most projects. They not only demand your attention, more »

Awakening the Spirit within, Ray Volpe and Krys Talk team up for ‘Spirit Squad’

After completing serveral successful remixes for one another such as Fly Away and my personal favorite By Your Side, the artists known as Ray Volpe and Krys Talk are finally teaming up. This time they are back with a collaborative project under the title ‘Spirit Squad‘. The song starts off like the beginning of an action movie with its adrenaline-pumping synth that reminds you of the opening scene to The Dark Knight. As the energy begins to build up, out of no where a school bell rings surprising you. This is the signal from Ray and Krys that they’re about to shake more »

Looking at the social media accounts of TBA. and Willco these two boys seem to have an awful lot in common, both seem to be shitposters at heart with Facebook pages similarly filled with a hefty collection of memes in amongst the music. TBA. Prior to getting into DJing and producing Adam (TBA.) had been involved in more »

From the forward moving Electro original, the track received an allover renovation to fit into the newer future bass genre. The song takes the elements of the original and elevates them to an existence beyond that of your average remix. To take something and give it a new energy is a wonderful way to pay tribue more »

Louis Futon’s latest remix masterpiece samples Frank Ocean

If you thought Louis Futon was done fucking the game up after his delicious remix of Kendrick Lamar’s “PRIDE”, then you were wrong by a long shot. Returning to Facebook, Futon asked his fans which song to sample for his next beat challenge before settling on Frank Ocean’s “Solo” off of Ocean’s most recent LP ‘Blonde’. Tackling “Solo” would be quite an arduous task for an unprepared musician. Between the heavily moody feel of the track driven by the detuned organ piano, and Frank’s super loose, almost freeform delivery of the lyrics; any hopeful remixers would have their work cut out more »

Years spent in isolation have caused a flurry of unique bass sounds to emanate from South Africa. One of the producers at the cutting edge of South Africa’s rapidly solidifying bass scene is CHEE. CHEE has a fresh take on sound design and a refreshing approach to production, with a constant need to push boundaries and limits. It is fitting to say that CHEE is one of the leaders of the more »
