Ta-Ku Shares a Cover Of Estelle’s “American Boy” Ahead Of His Two Debut North American Live Shows

On the heels of his critically acclaimed Fool’s Gold / Future Classic release Songs To Make Up To EP this summer, Australian producer Reggie “Ta-ku” Matthews will perform two rare live shows in New York City and Los Angeles, accompanied by special exhibitions of art and photos. In support of this US trip, he’s re-constructed and re-invented Estelle‘s“American Boy” with singer Wafia. We’ll let them tell you all about it…
“‘American Girl’ started as a joke when I was watching old Kobe Bryant highlights and Estelle’s ‘American Boy’ was the soundtrack. I really wanted to make a stripped back #emotional version that would play on its really great melodic structure”, says Ta-ku.

And Wafia adds, “‘American Girl’ is the first song Reggie & I worked on together. Reggie took the production and instrumentation to a really captivating place.  I’m looking forward to sharing the stage with someone I respect so much.”
