Beyond Wonderland 2019

As I entered the enchanted paradise that is Beyond Wonderland, I couldn’t help but be filled with positive vibes from everyone that was rapidly filling up the National Orange Show in San Bernardino. The lights glistened upon the lake and the event was in full effect. Moments after walking into the Queen’s Domain a pack of Insomniac performers, dressed as mystical cats grabbed me and took me a long for a rave train ride. We circled the stage, went around and grabbed random headliners who looked a little bored. Before we knew it our rave train had grown to over more »

Some artists do it for the bag, Travis Karter does it for the world.

Throughout both music history, countless artists have written and expressed messages about their wallets, habits, or any of the norm. Time and time again, we see artists coming up and making names for themselves, but few artists actually go and take their careers into influencing the lives of others positively. Separating himself from the pack, Travis Karter uses his art to help benefit a much larger cause, which is the constant problem of finding clean water in many places across the world. In 2015, Travis founded a non-profit organization called “Water Is The Answer” purposed to provide access to clean more »

Minimal Effort All Hallow’s Eve: Halloween Weekend At It’s Finest

Feature photo: Colin Defenbau It’s one of the greatest feelings ever walking up to a warehouse and hearing (almost feeling) pulsing Techno beats within the distance. Minimal Effort had it on lock and this year’s Halloween edition, All Hallows Eve, was one for the books.   Claptone’s reimagined stage takeover was indoors and had an endless wave of lazers over you the entire time you were present. The place was a party upon arrival and you could tell everyone was having a great time, no questions asked. From MK to Dusky and back, the hi-hats were rolling and the party showed more »

HOUNDS & SENOJNAYR – “WRATH”

Fresh delivery from Hucci’s label VERYON ARCHE. “Wrath” could be the soundtrack for 1000 short films. Near melancholy but never dull moods penetrate throughout and set the tone that HOUNDS & SENOJNAYR have crafted. This is the kind of song that fans will be referencing for a long time. “Wrath” is unchained to convention past the somewhat standard but well layered instruments and sounds. H&S take us through a gothic landscape, delicately assault us with some brassy synths, and then sweep it all into an eastern style swing that’s stronger than codeine. I keep pressing rewind and writing a new film in more »

Dive On In, With Okami’s ‘Into The Sea’ Remix

Australian producer, Okami, is a name everyone needs to know.  His “video game music” is heavily influenced by his love for the games he plays, especially Super Mario World; hence his latest album “Super Okami World.” He has definitely created his own, unique sound in all of his music – a lot of his music reminds me of what Porter Robinson would not only listen to, but produce himself.  Especially his latest remix to Dimatik’s “Into The Sea” feat the ever effervescent Enya Angel. The best part about music is the feelings that it gives you when you listen to it. more »

Desert Hearts

There’s something magical about walking into the middle of a indian reservation, specifically, the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation, where people are wearing fur coats and rainbow like sequins with leather gear in abundance. Why you might ask? Well, it is Desert Hearts after all and it wouldn’t be a Desert with temperatures hitting high 70’s during the day and high 30’s at night. With pulsing Techno beats for 100 hours straight, you don’t really know what you are getting yourself into until you are there embracing the mantra that is House, Techno, and love. Beyond Wonderland 2017 – A ten year retrospective

As I made my entrance into the enchanted wonderland I couldn’t help but realize that I’ve been doing this for exactly ten years. Although the inaugural Beyond Wonderland was held at NOS Events Center in San Bernardino, CA on March 20 2010, I have been following Insomniac’s Events since 2007. The precursor to Beyond Wonderland was “How Sweet It Is”, which used to take place at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA. It’s honestly heartwarming to see an underground production company evolve into the beautiful paradise that it is today. While the sounds, people, and fashion have changed, the more »
