HOUNDS & SENOJNAYR – “WRATH”

Fresh delivery from Hucci’s label VERYON ARCHE. “Wrath” could be the soundtrack for 1000 short films. Near melancholy but never dull moods penetrate throughout and set the tone that HOUNDS & SENOJNAYR have crafted. This is the kind of song that fans will be referencing for a long time. “Wrath” is unchained to convention past the somewhat standard but well layered instruments and sounds. H&S take us through a gothic landscape, delicately assault us with some brassy synths, and then sweep it all into an eastern style swing that’s stronger than codeine. I keep pressing rewind and writing a new film in more »

Sunday Service Remixes Adventure Club’s “Firestorm”

“Firestorm” was one of the major singles from Adventure Club’s debut album Red // Blue last year, and remains one of the most successful. It hinted at a different direction for them by demonstrating less of their signature melodic dubstep and showing their diversity by incorporating more chill and mellow trap sounds. Sunday Service remixed it in a way that takes the original to all new territory. The Sunday Service remix offers a louder, more powerful future bass drop that feels more suitable for a song titled “Firestorm.” The lyrics, which were arguably the strongest part of the original song, flow well more »

Kygo Impresses With New Ellie Goulding Collab

After successes with his debut album and more recently his collaboration with Selena Gomez, Kygo has released his next single “First Time” with Ellie Goulding.  This is the first time the EDM world has heard from Ellie Goulding in what feels like a long time.  Many people were surely looking forward to the track just for that reason, and the song itself certainly didn’t disappoint. “First Time” follows Kygo’s signature sound into a semi-experimental direction, with his pluck still clear but more of a leniency towards modern pop also noticeable.  This is more or less in line with “It Ain’t Me” more »

Wyldefire Drops Future House Banger “Nobody Knows”

There is some killer music coming out of Chicago these days, and this is no exception. 20 year old producer Wyldefire is back with some original heat. The pumping pianos and emotive vocals conjure images of early Eric Prydz, and quickly give way to the gritty bassline and expertly crafted percussion that made this track catch my ear. One of my favorite things about this track is that it isn’t overcluttered with a thousand elements that don’t really add anything to the final product (like the breadsticks in Chex Mix. Seriously, does anyone like those?). By keeping the instrumentation simple, more »

But, I am someone who likes to be on the hunt for good music. And I have been hiding under a rock lately. I must say I was pleasantly surprised and my doubts were banished after listening. And now it’s a track I have listened to multiple times. This was a valuable lesson to always have an open heart to new musical territory. more »

A Personal Article Reviewing My Past and Current Outlooks on The Electronic Music Industry

Introduction  I am not an electronic music expert, nor will I ever claim to be one. I have come across many, many other individuals since being involved in this scene who know much more than I do. A lot of them didn’t have to take over a year off to get their lives together either. They’ve been crushing it every day since the moment they said “This is what I want to do for the rest of my life: write articles, produce music, sing on tracks, produce an album, manage this duo, tour the world, let my voice be heard” more »
